Part-Time Education Award Only
Positions
For Education Award Positions, members will be matched with a community-level
project. The member will serve 303 hours or 455 hours, as scheduled
with the partner organization. If needed,
these hours can be
used to fulfill an academic internship requirement or simply to gain
professional experience. Upon completion of hours within the allotted
timeframe, the member will receive an Education Award as specified
below:

2011 Spring/Summer "Education
Award Only" Positions

Health Promotion Associate (Whitney Point):
Position
with the Rural Health Network of South Central NY. The
Health Promotion Associate will support and assist with
community based wellness programs, local foods/nutrition
projects and rural schools health initiatives. This is a 455
hour position.

Assistant to Youth Initiative Program Directors (Binghamton):
This
is a
455
hour position with
Broome County Council of Churches
Ramp It Up program.
The
individual will report to two program directors and will be
responsible for aiding in the implementation
and development of the Wheel Chair Ramp Program for Broome
County Council of Churches. The Assistant to Youth
Initiative Program Directors position will work on a flexible
schedule including some evenings and weekends. Clean driver's license is
required.
This position will be
@ 28 hours per week.

Assistant to Youth
Initiative Program Directors (Binghamton):
This is a
303 hour position
with Broome County Council
of Churches
Ramp it Up
program. The individual will report to two program
directors and will be responsible for aiding in the
implementation and development of the Wheel Chair Ramp Program
for Broome County Council of Churches. The Assistant to
Youth Initiative Program Directors position will work on a
flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Clean
driver's license is required. This position will be @ 24 hours
per week.

Tourism Project Coordinator
(Owego): This 303 hour position involves assisting in the planning,
organization and management of the Bike Tioga 2011 event. This
position will also assist with the coordination and management
of the “Walkable Communities” Passport project. While
working onsite, assist visitors with appropriate tourism
information in Visitor’s Center, Owego. Update
relevant websites and assist in office administration projects
as needed.

PAL Center Assistant (Binghamton,
Norwich, Sidney, and Walton as needed): Responsibilities
of this 455 hour position include serving at the PAL
(Parents As Leaders) Center along side the Center Coordinators, providing activities
and information to parents and children birth to five.
Mileage reimbursement for travel to centers other than
Binghamton.
PAL Center hours of operation
at all sites are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00 am
to 1:00 pm. and Thursday from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. (Thursday
evening work is required)

Walton
Community Garden and Farm to School Project Advocate (Walton):
This 303 hour position provides critical support for the two
start up programs which promote local and sustainable food
production, increase access to healthy food by limited-resource
households, and provide local, organic food for the Walton
Central School district. This position involves hands-on
gardening as well as student outreach and workshop support.

The Rural Health Service
Corps is an AmeriCorps National Service Program administered by
the Rural Health Network of South Central New York. The purpose of
the Rural Health Service Corps is to provide meaningful service and
learning opportunities for young people committed to improving the
health and lives of those living in South Central New York State.
The mission of the Rural Health Network of
South Central New York (RHNSCNY) is to promote and improve the
health of rural communities and strengthen each community's capacity
to respond to health needs by reducing barriers and improving access
and use of health and human services through advocacy, communication
and partnerships. The RHNSCNY serves Delaware, Tioga and rural
Broome County.
