The
Rural Health Network advocates for changes in health policy, and
is devoted to the provision of health services at all levels. At
the individual level we assist rural residents in identifying the
existing programs and services to best suit their needs. At the
community level, the Network has provided financial support and
other resources to groups targeting programs such as: childhood
obesity; mental health and substance abuse prevention; and transportation
services for the chronically ill. At the systemic level, we educate
public policy makers about the current barriers to healthcare and
gaps in existing programs. We also facilitate the creation of shared
mechanisms for patient health information – giving healthcare
providers the ability to render higher quality care at a lower cost
to both the patient and the healthcare delivery system.
