The Wheels for Work (WFW) Program at the Family Enrichment Network has two goals. The first is to help Broome County parents, who meet income eligibility and other guidelines, buy a vehicle so they can get to work, or become employed. The second is to provide a repair fund to help working parents who already own a car with some vehicle repairs. Both facets of the Wheels for Work Program require that certain guidelines are met for parents to be eligible for the services.
Participants in the WFW program also receive monthly trainings and useful information for car owners. Some of the recent trainings have been on "Summer Car Care", "Better Fuel Economy", "What to Do if You are in an Accident", and "Brake Systems and Safety". Participants were given handouts to keep for reference and were also given a packet of information containing free and low cost family entertainment for the Fall.
If you are in need of a car or car repairs in order to get to work, or know someone who does and/or you would like more information on this program please call the Wheels for Work Case Manager, Bea Sprague, at 607-723-8313, Ext 810.
