The Wellness Committee of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Facility Auxiliary has announced that Dr. Aneta K. Dimova will present a discussion of "Heart Disease in Women" on Wednesday, February 10 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Purcell Center in Margaretville. Admission to the lecture is free. In announcing the topic, John Riedl, chair of the committee said, "Too many women die each year because they are unaware that heart disease is their number one killer. The Wellness Committee selected this topic to help dispel the myth that heart disease is a 'man's disease' or that it is only the concern of older women." One in three women suffers in silence because they are unaware of the symptoms of heart disease, and almost one woman dies every minute of this largely preventable disease. Women at all stages of life are susceptible and are encouraged to attend the lecture to learn more about the disease and to recognize the indications. Dr. Aneta K. Dimova, who is presenting the one hour lecture, is a practicing physician at Margaretville Hospital, Kingston Hospital and Benedictine Hospital. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and an Honor Member of the Macedonian Society of Cardiology. The February lecture is part of an ongoing series presented by the Wellness Committee of Margaretville Hospital Auxiliary and is funded in part by The O'Connor Foundation. The topics are selected by the Committee and generally reinforce national educational programs. In this case, the lecture is part of the Committee's support of the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women," which is an annual month long initiative to encourage women to become more aware and take action to reduce their chances of cardiovascular disease.
